Understanding problems & developing solutions
Prototype construction, including rapid prototyping, plays an important role in the development of vehicle components and therefore also of wiring system components. Even in the earliest concept and pre-development phase, engineers have to test designs and, in some cases, functionality. Prototypes must be built as product samples for this purpose.
Fast and cost-effective methods of prototype construction are required in order to meet the increasingly tight development cycles. The construction of tools as well as the mechanical processing of various materials and the use of generative processes are common technologies and processes in the product development cycle.
Through continuous further development, rapid prototyping enables the construction of functional prototypes that can already withstand certain stresses and allow functional tests and design verification.

Comparisons are essential for evaluating technologies. Wiring system analyses and studies can be carried out virtually as well as in the form of vehicle comparisons. These comparisons are primarily used to track architectural trends, product and technology scouting as well as for a well-founded technology-oriented benchmark analysis. In detail, we concentrate on technical solutions for specific vehicle functions, which are evaluated according to defined characteristics. Among other things, we examine E/E architecture, power distribution including protection, data distribution and battery technologies.

The LEONI Product Data Service (PDS), a key component of the digital transformation of the automotive industry, provides a reliable central platform for managing and sharing product data within the company. This includes design, manufacturing and service data. Our PDS helps to improve product quality, reduce costs and increase efficiency. Thanks to access to accurate and up-to-date product information, it improves our service and support when working with our customers.
